Best Picnic Spots in the Tennessee Valley
Since the days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer, we wanted to compile a list of options for the perfect picnic spot! There are so many beautiful green areas in Huntsville (and surrounding areas) to choose from, so we picked a few of our favorites just for you. Check out our list of best picnic spots in the Tennessee Valley!
Constitution Park
In the middle of Constitution Village downtown behind Piper & Leaf, there’s a nice stretch of green. This area is perfect for picnics, and restrooms are located right next to the park.
Big Spring Park
There’s shade, a waterfall, occasional concerts, nearby restaurants – what’s not to love?
Rainbow Mountain
Instead of your traditional picnic blanket, Rainbow Mountain has an area with picnic tables (and a Porta Potty, just in case). The whole thing is shaded, so enjoy lunch and avoid the heat here.
Hays Nature Reserve
This nature reserve is more calm and peaceful than the others. Sitting out in South Huntsville, there’s plenty of room for picnics, nature watching, and other outdoor activities.
Green Mountain
Well shaded, bathrooms on property, picnic tables and rocking chairs nearby, this is a great location for a picnic. Heads up: cell service is generally non-existent here, so be prepared.
Point Mallard Park
Known for its events, water park, and golfing, Point Mallard also has a ton of green space (and a camp site!).
Lake Guntersville
Take a Saturday to drive out to Guntersville and experience the slow-paced environment as you picnic along the lake.
