Coffee Shops in the Tennessee Valley
Looking for a good cup of joe? The Tennessee Valley has a strong art community that’s always looking for small businesses to support, and coffee shops are no exception. Scroll through the list below to see just a few of some local favorites instead of popping over to your usual Starbucks.
(Disclaimer: this is a short list, not all inclusive. We’ve definitely missed a few favorites, but this will get you started!)
Gold Sprint Coffee
This coffee shop has the air of a bicycle repair shop that’s been updated with subtly designed artwork, vintage couches, and lots of greenery. If you’re looking for a cool place to get coffee, this is it. And on top of the decor, the coffee is really good (plus mimosas on Sundays).
Dragon’s Forge Cafe
Want to sip on a latte in a magical setting while a wizard plays the harp? Head to Dragon’s Forge at Lowe Mill. Themed after D&D and fantasy worlds, this location can make you feel like you’ve stepped into another time. They even serve food, so stop by to enjoy the food, coffee, and vibes.
Offbeat Coffee
This coffee shop is modern, down to earth, and a little quirky. Located in Campus 805, it’s surrounded by fun and hipster spots, and it fits in very well there.
Olde Towne Coffee Shoppe
Cozy and often crowded in the best way, Olde Towne is the type of coffee shop you’d love to find near a college campus: it’s affordable, has good coffee options, and would be a great study spot.
Rooster’s Crow Coffee Roastery
If you’re looking for a roaster, look no further than Rooster’s Crow. A combination coffee shop/roaster, this slightly under the radar coffee shop is a staple here in Huntsville.
LUXBRŪ Cafe
This coffee shop is fairly new, but it’s made quite an impression. It’s large, pretty, and has lots of good options for coffee, tea, and food. Whether you want to pop in for a quick cup or have a meet up with friends, LUXBRŪ is a great choice.
Creme Brew Lait
Two words: drive through. Lots of great options, and you don’t even have to leave your car.
Black Dog Grounds and Sounds
If you’re into vintage, music, and shopping for vinyl, this is the shop for you. It’s chill, it’s got locally brewed coffee, they have food – what more could you want?
Charlie Foster’s
Located in Stovehouse, this is a coffee shop with a purpose: “to model inclusion to our community”. They provide employment opportunities for individuals and developmental disabilities, and they serve some good coffee as well. Also, they have a community library, so just another reason to check them out!
Angel’s Island Coffee
This unassuming spot in south Huntsville is a huge local favorite. Angel’s Island opened in 2007, and it’s a good spot for both families and adults with delicious coffee, tea, and food options.
Bonus: The Kaffeklatsch
This is more of a roaster than a spot to sit down and enjoy your coffee, but it deserves to be on this list. Opened in 1976, this location is a Huntsville staple that sells loads of freshly roasted specialty coffee and premium loose-leaf teas from around the world. They also sell drip coffee daily (and it’s a different kind every day). We highly recommend just stopping in for a cup so you can smell how amazing it is in there (they still have the original wood up inside).
