Fall Decor Ideas for your Front Door
As local real estate agents, we are always frequenting the most beautiful neighborhoods in North Alabama. As the seasons change, these neighborhoods take on new beauties, and one of the most stunning times to enjoy the scenery is the fall.
Half of the reason our neighborhoods are so breathtaking in the fall is because of the leaves. As they slowly change from green to the different shades of a stunning red and orange palette, they take on new form. The fall tree colors in Alabama seem to shine a little brighter than in other places. This is most likely due to our sun, still shining bright as the weather cools down.
Leaves that are dark pink to burnt orange, and golden yellow slowly make their way down from their tree limbs to form a colorful blanket on all the lawns. Children and puppies can be seen adventuring their yard, finding new adventures within their changing neighborhood. It’s certainly a comforting sight. It really makes being Huntsville real estate agents feel especially sweet, knowing how happy our clients will be in their new home.
But what really makes the neighborhoods feel like home isn’t as much the changing leaves, as it is the decor. Below, we wanted to share some of our most favorite fall decoration ideas we have seen while exploring our Tennessee Valley neighborhoods.
Garland
We love when we see a front porch decorated with a garland. In fact, we believe if you are feeling a little bit lazy this fall, a simple garland is all you really need to decorate for the fall. Because it goes all along your porch railing, or surrounds a door, it’s a major focal point that stands out. Our most favorite garland we have seen this year was one made out of colorful cornhusks strung together with twine. It was a stunning representation of autumn.
Dried Flower Wreath
Wreaths are fairly essential as we enter the holiday season, but sometimes fall wreaths look a bit out of place. Things are not longer as alive as the were in the summer, and evergreens just look better in a winter environment. One of the best wreath ideas we have seen was created with dried jewel colored flowers.
It seems easy to make. Simply purchase a wreath form at your local craft store, pick our your favorite flowers, hang them upside down to dry, and then pin them to the form. It’s a really beautiful and unique door decoration.
Pumpkins
Of course, pumpkins are required for fall decor, and we highly encourage everyone to carve a pumpkin or two before Halloween, but what about after Halloween? How do you keep pumpkins in style? First, ditch the spooky jack-o-lanterns. Get some new, fully intact pumpkins. Place them on your steps as is, or cut open the tops and create a pumpkin vase for flowers.
Another popular idea is to paint your pumpkin an off-white color. It’s a very classy and eye catching look in the midst of all the warmer fall colors.
Burlap
Burlap is just the perfect foundation for any fall decor. We have seen it shaped into wreaths, covered over pumpkins, and made into outdoor pillows that accent rocking chairs. If you are into crafting your own autumn decorations, chances are, you’ll need some burlap, and we love how inviting this texture looks.
