The Dog Ball
The Dog Ball is an annual fun, fancy dress dinner and activities-filled fundraiser held on behalf of the Greater Huntsville Humane Society — a no-kill shelter dedicated to the humane care and treatment of animals.
Guests whole-heartedly agree, the most beloved part of the Ball is being able to greet and pet about 50 local dogs while spending an enjoyable evening with like-minded animal lovers.
The puptail hour and Very Important Dog (or as we call them, VIDs), greet & pet begins at 5:45 pm — the event lasts until about 9:30 pm.
There are lots of ways you can become a proactive supporter of The Dog Ball:
- Attending the event
- Presenting your dog as a VID
- Becoming an event sponsor
- Donating money or a service, a gift item or certificate for auction — donations and tickets are tax deductible — your donated item will be seen by over 900 influential guests and by many, many more fans across our online presence
- Purchasing silent or live auction items
- Volunteering to help The Dog Ball Committee as a committee member or as pitch-hit help on the day of the event

Scottsboro Boys Traveling Exhibit
February 2 – 29
This February, the museum brings its travel exhibition to Huntsville-Madison County Library Downtown Branch. The exhibit tells the complex story of the arrests, trials, and the case’s global impact. It also discusses Huntsville’s connections to the case, including the lives of Ruby Bates and Victoria Price, the two Huntsville mill workers who claimed they were attacked by the nine African Americans. A special section on Clarence Watts, the local attorney who defended the Scottsboro Boys during the latter part of the trials, is displayed as well.
