Prepping Your Home For Vacation
We hope your summer plans include a vacation, whether big or small! To make your homecoming even nicer, check out this list to prep your home for vacation.
Check Temperature
If you have a smart thermostat, turn it on eco mode while you’re gone. If not, consider turning your AC off or leaving it on 85 degrees. This will help save on your electric bill.
Clean Refrigerator
Check expiration dates and throw away anything that will expire while you’re gone. Wipe down any spills that may have recently happened.
Test Smoke Detectors
Ensure that your smoke detectors are working and have reliable batteries.
Have an Emergency Contact
Reach out to a neighbor or friend who can drive by to check on your home while you’re away. Even leave them the contact of your plumber or handy man incase something goes wrong.
Take Trash Out
You will thank yourself if you remember to take your trash out before heading out of town.
Leave on Lights
Leave at least 1 exterior light on so those passing by will assume someone is home.
Hide Spare Keys
If you typically leave a spare key outside, bring it inside and potentially leave it with your emergency contact.
